Happy April, all! Every month, I do an absolutely insane amount of books I want to read, and I can never, ever get there. And that's fine, that's the point of the monthly reads. Some I'll get to, others I will that aren't there - there's no pressure. March was such an insane month (there wasn't even a Monthly Reads post because I knew it would be impossible) that I kind of lost a lot of reading mojo. Which is also fine! But I'm approaching April with a revised outlook: a simple amount of books because I need to find my flow again. Very few obligation/review books.

Happy February, all! Every month I claim insanity with the amount of books I want to read - but this month? I seriously think I'm insane for even thinking about this many. Monthly Reads: January 2013! Happy New Year!

Yes, I did skip December - I was trying to get a post done, but it was so late in the month and I had no idea what kind of time I had or what books I wanted to read that I finally decided not to do one about 12 days in. As much as it killed me to not have consistency, it was for the best. Now onto better things:

January!

I know the point of this feature was so I could not feel so pressured for review books, but I am totally breaking that this month. I made some commitments, and then other commitments came in much earlier than planned...basically, this entire month are books that need to be read because I am on deadline, or they're borrowed, or I've got an interview planned, or something. That's NOT to say I don't want to read these! I'm actually really happy to have that sort of pressure on me this month, because these are all books I'm SUPER SUPER excited for.

October was a bit of a bust for me - it was a lot busier than anticipated, and I deviated really far from the pile featured here. But that's ok, I still read as much as I could! November will definitely not have enough time for all this between Holiday prep, a lot of great book events, some crazy work (since my company is in retail, this Season will crush us...) and NaNoWriMo...but hey, lofty goals!

Monthly Reads: October 2012

Monthly Reads is a feature highlighting the books I've got in my TBR for that month. It's a way of sharing the ones I'm excited for and trying to relieve the pressure of "having" to read an ARC or new release.

September was actually really successful for me! Of the 11 books shared here, I read 8 of them! I did also read 3 unplanned ones, but that was expected that to happen. Hooray! I hope to keep it up for October. I know I'm being ambitious with the quantity I've got pictured, but when I was scanning my shelves for books that felt like good October reads I just kept pulling choices! We'll see how it goes!

Monthly Reads: September 2012

The last few weeks of August, I did this thing (privately, not on my blog) where I made a small pile of books that I wanted to read. Not ones I felt I had to, but the ones that I really wanted to. Some of them were new releases, others were older, some were ARCs releasing soon, and still some were ARCs of later releases or earlier ones. The point of it was that I got to see a pile of books that I was excited for, not so much an obligation - and surprisingly, it worked really well! I finished most and at least started the rest, and it reinvigorated my reading mojo.

So I've decided that I'm going to try that again! And this time, publicly declare it on the blog :) Hopefully I'll stick to it better, but I'm trying this as a "no pressure" situation - if I read the book, cool. If I don't get to it, that's cool too.

I'm kind of cheating in that I prepped for this post a few days ago, and since then I've finished a few of these books already. But they started in my September pile and are in the pictures, so let's stick with it!
