Waiting on Wednesday: Speechless by Hannah Harrington

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine
meant to spotlight an upcoming release we're eagerly awaiting!

Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Harlequin Teen, 336 Pages
Expected US Release Date: August 28, 2012

The story of a girl named Chelsea Knot who takes a voluntary oath of silence after her gossip-mongering ways yield unexpected consequences…
------------------Goodreads summary.

Not much of a summary yet, right? Still, it sounds like it could be a really brilliant, funny and moving novel - and after how much I loved Saving June (review here!), I'm really looking forward to her follow up!

What are your thoughts on the cover? It's stark (and truthfully, I thought it was just a placeholder!), but Harlequin is saying it'll have embossed lettering and a shimmery paper treatment. I think it could be beautiful!

(I don't even know if you can see it! I swear it's there to the left, or click on either the picture of the link to see it better.)

What book are you eagerly awaiting?

  7. Dude! That cover's simplicity strikes me after my eyes are so sick of those beautiful ladies and elegant dresses. Very fresh indeed. And about that oath, I think I can relate deeply with the protag. xD

  8. Great choice, Ashley!! And OMG I love the cover. Sometimes, less really is more. It's simple and really powerful. Also, the title is fabulous! Even though the summary hasn't been released yet, and I know I'm going out on a limb, I think this book is going to be great. I can just feel it!! :P Awesome choice sweetie! <3

  9. Sounds interesting - both the cover and the blurb seem perfect to me since the subject is a girl promising to not communicate. I bet the cover will be gorgeous in person.

    Nice pick!

  12. Oh, I thought it was a placeholder as well! Not sure if that is the effect the publisher's wanted though! I LOVED Saving June, so after reading it I hopped online right away to see what was next for Harrington. I can't wait to read this one too!

  23. haha, yeah I didn't even notice the cover until you pointed it out! I don't know, maybe the blankness of the cover is meant to symbolize the oath of silence? Thanks for stopping by my blog, by the way!

  25. Wow, I thought that was a "fake" cover as well. I think it could be pretty too, but I'm afraid it might not stand out though...especially when viewing it online. At any rate, it sounds pretty interesting from the brief summary.

  26. Ahh, I LOVED Saving June and I can't wait to get my hands on Hannah's new book! Plus, you're right about the cover--I think a plain white cover will look PERFECT and so so shiny! :D Fantastic pick and thanks for stopping by!

  27. The cover? What cover? Where? Oh, that one. Slipped my poor eyesight, that did. Although I guess it would look very catchy in a bookstore with its snowiness showing through all the other dark YA covers. Loved Saving June, so of course I'm looking forward to this! Thanks for stopping by :)
